The Best Years of our Lives (1946)

One of the first movies that made a DRAMATIC STATEMENT after World War II. ┬áThis movie has relevance even today as we also have soldiers coming back from Iraq or Afghanistan. ┬áThis movie is uneven in places, but the overall message is too hard to ignore…

This movie takes on a very difficult theme and passes the test with flying colors…this is an emotional film, that has some very difficult moments to watch, but has many heartwarming moments.

This is one movie that every person should watch once in their lives…it is a LONG movie, but the cast gives some spectacular performances.

Some of the great stars of the era, Teresa Wright, Frederick March, Myrna Loy, Dana Andrews, and a great performance by an unknown actor in his FIRST MOVIE…I won’t spoil it for you…this first time actor won an Academy Award…something that had never happened before.

Be prepared for an emotional ride with this one…as this movie honors those who serve, but discuss the ups and downs that invariably happen as soldiers come home from war.
